Yep, I think it does (and now I know what ABI means ;)

It would be nice if gcc intelligently tried to check this (if there's a gcc2_compiled flag in the binary, it can't be impossible to store versioning information) and _warn_ about incompatibilities. (Then again, I suppose there might be a compiler flag that I don't know about).
