Could this be the same argument for any licensed software (Windows etc)..

I see the whole point of MP3 vs ogg etc, just like i clearly see M$ is 'better' (pls oh pls this is not a flame) in the sense that more people use it, it has a larger software (games etc) compatibility base, and, well frankly, is just easy. linux (although not a total contradiction to M$ win) is diffirent.

Does not share the same 'pro's' as M$ win... no explanation necessary.

Getting back to MP3 vs ogg, i say... the company's should make concerted efforts to now produce CD/MP3/OGG (or CD/OGG/MP3) players for cars as a standard. lets face it, MP3 has licencing issues, but its as damm easy to rip to MP3 as it is to OGG, the only diffirence is that one is not the other, and the other is open source.

Frankly, i prefer ogg because of the whole open source thingy, much like i choose to use my linux distro as apposed to win.

Unfortunately i have to 'encode' ogg to mp3 if i wanted to make a new mp3 cd for my car, but i get that same chilly feeling when ever i have to boot out of linux to go play something i want to play in windows.

As far as ogg players go, you can use vlc in windows or linux to play ogg, (as a matter of fact, you cannot play mp3's under open Suse) but sure as rain, u can play ogg's. You can also use Jukebox, umm, Amarok, umm, etc etc etc...

My christmas wish is a CD/OGG/MP3 player for cars... its my wish... mine all mine... not an opinion.

Cheers
