[GLUG-chat] Telkom and ADSL

Howzit all,

I have a client with one of these white ADSL routers the one that says
"ADSL Pots" on it in black, iirc it's a marconi.

Anyway, they have a problem whereby the line drops every couple of
minutes with a log in /var/log/messages saying that it got no response
to 3 echo requests (as specified in /etc/ppp/pppoe.conf) I extended the
LCP_FAILURE count to 20, and now the box just drops off the net with no
messages only to come back a couple of minutes later as if nothing has
happened.

So obviously you think it's the line, yet telskum says it's testing
fine.

Now what I'd like to know from the list is, has anyone of you had a
similar experience? Can telkom do some longer tests on the line? Any
specific tests i should ask them to do etc.?
