Re: GLUG: Mail Archive

Hi Oskar

Firstly apologies about any misunderstandings on my/our side, this followed from
Morne trying to get the glug-experts@xxxxxxxxxxxx mailing list up, I'm not sure
if he spoke to you but he forwarded me a mail from Tony Wade stating the facts
about Qmail and that the linux/unix servers were changing, be it the servers
themselves or the software they were running I can't say for certain.

Ok sorry if I was misguided, see above.

That much I know, when I left there mid-1997 they were already starting the
migration, but I was under the impression that it had practically all gone the
Microsoft way now.

Agreed, for one thing just not having the "sendmail" command for dynamic
website generation programs and other such things will pose a huge problem, let
alone the internal functionality.

Mike Smith has just mailed me saying if this does happen he can also probably
find a machine running sendmail/majordomo to do this on. I'm just not sure why
we didn't get this response when I asked Morne to look into it a couple of
months ago.

Thanks Oskar, there's another misunderstanding on my/our (probably just my)
side, I didn't know that you still maintain the GLUG side of IS, I thought
since you weren't physically at IS any more that we had no contact to the
server there.

Glad to hear that. :-)
