just beware of the HASP etc. type internal modems which creates their own "serial device" under Windows. These might never be supported under Unix, as they do their DSP in software (CPU), and see these stuff as proprietary. Thus be sure that the modem have settings to be configured as COM1:-COM4: (With interrupts & IO addresses) , and doesn't mention anything about HASP etc. These "cheap" internal modems are typically about half the price of the right stuff internal modems.
