Chadley,
An internal modem is set up via a serial port
/dev/ttyS0, ttyS1, ttyS2 and so on where S0
corresponds to COM1:, S1 to COM2: and so on
under DOS.
I find the easiest is to set the internal modem
to COM1: or COM2:, then switch off the relevant serial
port on the motherboard. You then use the /dev/ttyS0
or S1 device to talk to the modem. Use minicom (a
Procomm type application) to check whether the modem
is working.
