Linux Renders The Titanic 

 Digital Domain used 105 Digital Alpha's running at
 433MHz to act as a rendering engine for the special
 effects in the groundbreaking movie. Using the Linux
 Alpha systems gave them a 2-3.5x speed up over their
 previous SGI configuration.
