converting to inetd server

Hi all

I apologize if this is a bit more developer-orientated but here goes :
I'm converting a standalone server to a xinetd/inetd server, but I would
like to make as little as possible changes to it. I know that stdout and
stdin is redirected as 'file' streams to 'socket' streams but I would like to
get a socket pointer somehow and simply use that in the send/recv functions.
I don't want to use fprintf or printf with stdout or stdin to send data to the client.

I someone could point me to some resources or help me out it would be
appreciated.

Thanks in Advance
Andre
