Re: GLUG: TCP/IP

Hi Darren

Is the problem solved ?

rip1 - old only use class of address as the mask.
rip2 - new, send's mask with routes (variable subnet masking)

Can you ping the Linux box from the faulty workstations ?
What is the default gateway on the pc's ?
Can you ping anything from the Linux box ?

Cheers,

Pieter E Smit

A client of mine says they have a TCP/IP network
that uses RIP2 in the IP part of the protocol.
People cannot surf to their linux box and they say
it is because the Redhat 6.2 uses rip1.

Can anyone tell me what this RIP is, and how
do I fix this probem?

Thanks,
