Just my thoughts. Wins is a pretty intense process and it if doesn't work
to well you network will be pretty much stuffed. You'll also get better
performance out of your wins server if it has more than one CPU.

If the network is not to big then maybe you can try it. With windows, you
can have redundancy between more that one wins server. I'm not sure if
this is the same when you use samba.

I wouldn't run it on a large network on Linux. Not because of Linux though.
I say this without having any experience in the matter.
