Title: Stressing a linux box in desktop environment (WAS: RE: GLUG: OT: Uptime for Win9X , Linux + NT)
I use
a linux box as a workstation on our 10MPS network at home (5 PC's). This
machine sits in my workshop where it also serves as a Quake server for my
two sons and their friends (Now we're talking STRESS) who also use the
machine as a massive jukebox for their (constantly changing) MP3
collection.
To
date they have not yet managed to hang or crash the Linux box which is a creaky
old 240 MHz IDT winchip (nogal) with a 2 GB HDD and 64 MB of mix n' match RAM...
and it wasn't for lack of trying ;)
I
didn't think the box would last 2 hours..... never mind no reboot since
install.... go figure...
