Dedian2.2 and pppd

Hi

I have a debian2.2, and with kernel 2.2.17 that comes with debian i can
connect to internet fine, but when reboot and use my 2.4-test4 kernel it
connects, but i cant ping anyone out there? now i went and looked, i do
have the latest pppd, and i have got ppp compiled in and stuff.

Any idears?
