Read my earlier post again... I did not make it clear enuf, the trick with the
inittab script will make ctr-alt-del kill X instead of ctrl-alt-bkspc.

Ctrl-alt-del is not managed via X, you have a good chance of it still working on a hung X session.

If THIS does not work, grab an unused serial port, wire a switch to it, keep the switch open,
write a program that checks the pin, if the pin is on/off(depending on your switch) kill the X server.

You now have a hardwired X session.
Same idea applies to the parralel port.. serial is just a bit easier.

Dont take this too seriously....
