RE: GLUG: when did it went down ?


One way is to edit /etc/rc.d/init.d/anyservice_you_want and stick a message
line under the stop command part. That way when the service is stopped
without restarting it will write the message whereever you want including
such things as the time or something. 
eg. cat date /var/log/lasttime 
Just make sure you pick a service script you always run :-)

You can also use logger to put messages into the syslog.
