This is apparently far more OT than we realised.
It also works on my Win98 Box, but why:

The culprit, in my case is not MS nor Cygnus
but Novell!

There is no ls.com or ls.exe on my drive c:
My box is connected, however to a NetWare Server.
(and Samba, and etc.)


now on MYSERVERNAME_SYS:/PUBLIC
to which there is a NetWare search path
I find :

chmod.exe    46031    10-15-97     1:00a
chown.exe    45349    10-15-97    12:59a
ls.exe            56229    10-15-97    12:58a

All V1.2    Copyright Novell Inc.

Now, does that clear the mystery or do we have
different versions of the various tools from different
vendors?
