The majority of Linux-using IRC users that I know of use #linux on
irc.zanet.net or #unix on irc.lagnet.org.za.

To cut a long story short, supporting "zanet.org.za" is bad, and
supporting "zanet.net" or "lagnet.org.za" is good.  Let's just say that
"zanet.org.za" is "closed-source", and the others are "open-source".

In many discussions previously it has been suggested that #glug on
lagnet.org.za be the channel, but most people who went there moved over
to #unix.
