Run 'startx > /tmp/x-output 2>&1' and look for errors.
Something like '(---) Maximum bandwith 135Mhz'
and then '(---) mode deleted: would need XXXX'
Most laptop LCDs run at a specific fixed rate though, and 56Hz on an LCD
is much better than 56Hz on a CRT, because the crystals don't flicker.
