Screen refresh rate when running on notebook.

Hi all,

I've got a query about setting refresh rates on my notebook.
The problem seems to be that whatever I set my X config file to, and
whatever xvidtune reports, I always seem to run at 56Hz according to the
monitor. I can't seem to fix this... 

Any help would be much appreciated...
