Wayne, Everyone,

Well, 'nuke it and take it in with a fresh windows installation.

Seriously though I fail to see how a company could possibly enforce
something like this unless it was noted before you purchased the laptop.

The Linux operating system now has (and continually gains) recognition and
I would guess that any Sony lawyer would be hard pressed to
successfully define using Linux as beyond the scope of normal operation
for the hardware.
