| Re: GLUG: Off Topic: Switch box |
Hi Koot, Jeremy, I've got an ATEN cs-124, and it's really nice. There are some minor bugs with the mouse, but definitely worth it IMO. When I read the LJ article I was convinced that he was talking about my box - I recon it's just been re-branded. I found a URL for ATEN btw - I think it was aten.com.tw - so you can check it out. Our local supplier (in Cape Town) is Light Edge and it was about R1850 (at cost) + vat. There is one important thing to know: the choice of video cable is very important. If you use a cheap video extender cable, it makes your screen blurred! I ended up using old (screened) cables from dead monitors, and I run happily at around 1024x768x85Hz. The display is crisp. Contrary to the LJ article, I use ONE mouse (ps2) and it drives pc's with either serial or ps2 mouse requirements. It's hot-pluggable AND you can reset the mouse/kbd via the front panel. A friend has the cs128 (8 port) and he's also very happy.
