Off the bttv and broadcast2000 websites (I don't know the URL's, but you can
find them on freshmeat if you do a search) there's a .tgz package called
"mpegtools" or "mpeg_movie" which has all the tools you'll need to encode mpeg
1 or 2 video from video and audio streams. However I found the lack of useful
documentation a problem here and it seems you really need to know what you're
doing to get it to encode.
